CashTexts
January 2013 Comments: CashTexts was always a good concept, but I believe they ultimately charged businesses too much (in part by promising to pay out too much) and not requiring people to open their text messages to get paid. Had they fixed these issues, perhaps they could have gotten the necessary advertisers.
But the CONCEPT was to provide certain details about yourself so companies could target advertising texts to you; and you were paid to receive those texts. This is because data is big business.
This is why, for instance, you can get unlimited talk, text, and data for $10/month -- because phone companies actually gather and sell your data, and one company has decided to use this fact for the benefit of the consumer. Only catch? You have to pay up front: $600 for 5 years.
Meanwhile, social networks and search engines make money in the same way: data. And once again, you can let them keep all of the benefits, or you can engage in those like Webtalk (join here) that pay you for building their network. (And Webtalk will offer many more features than other social networks.)
